Online vs. Offline Poker
You have to look at the difference between online and offline poker. This is one of the hardest decisions for people to make – especially those who are relatively new to the game. Many of the features are the same, though there are some pros and cons to each as well.
Online Poker
When you play online poker, you don’t have to worry about bluffing and showing your poker hands. If people have told you in the past that they know when you are bluffing, you may want to hone your skills a little more online before you try to play poker in front of people again.
The software that the online casinos uses guides you through all of the steps. The game will tell you when to make your bet, when to discard your cards (if applicable) and much more.
The pros: the pros are that you don’t have to worry about tells. You can also choose a table and never have to worry about it being full.
The cons: the cons are that you don’t have human interaction and there is no dealer to ask questions from.
Offline Poker
When you play offline poker, you can meet some new and interesting people, though many will probably be wearing sunglasses, so you can’t look them in the eye. You will be able to find a lot of online casinos that offer various versions of poker. Depending on where you live, you may also find poker rooms at the dog track, at certain bars and restaurants, and elsewhere around town.
Each place has its own rules as well as a buy-in. You may or may not be able to choose the table you sit down at and when you bet, you do so because you know what you are doing.
Pros: the pros are that you get human interaction as well as the ability to hold the cards and talk to people.
Cons: the cons are that you have to wait for a table to free up and you can’t select the version of poker that’s being played.
